The benefits of this scheme are that it:

• allows students’ parents to have control over the amount of money that their child has access to in New Zealand
• is a more convenient method than current alternatives to demonstrate the financial standing of the applicant and their family
• helps the Immigration Officer more easily determine the ability of parents to fund their child’s tuition and living costs in New Zealand. Usually this is done by parents having to provide a range of documentation to show their financial standing, which the Immigration Officer then has to scrutinise and verify.
